According to The Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and other Law & Regulation Employers must provide ADEQUATE training to their employees. This must include training in METHODS, RISKS & PRECAUTIONS for any work equipment. Accrediting bodies recognised by HSE/HSC are there to help your company comply with these requirements by issuing standards in accordance with Codes Of Practice & policing their accredited training providers. It is still the responsibility of the employer to ensure adequate training is provided. Please be aware that training companies offering Instructor/trainee ratios in excess of those listed or durations shorter are not necessarily following these Codes of Practice. The maximum number of operators we can train on a BASIC TRAINING course is 3 and ITSSAR (Independent Training Standards Scheme and Register) provides the following recommendations for the training of operators on most mechanical handling equipment - forklift truck, reach truck, etc. A 1 day refresher course for up to 3 operators who have / had certificates. (Recommended after 3-5 years. (We would need sight of previous certificate or some other proof of training) A 2 day course for 1 or 2 operators with experience of the truck but no certificates A 3 day course for 3 operators with experience of the truck but no certificates A 3 day course for 1 novice operator A 4 day course for 2 novice operators A 5 day course for 3 novice operators We can also carry out conversion courses from one type of equipment to another - the equipment involved determines the number of day(s) needed. Upon successful conclusion of a course we will send you in respect of each candidate; 1. A Certificate of Basic Training (As required by L117) 2. A Photo ID card (Laminated) 3. Full Records of Training. 4. Instructors end of course recommendations to supervision. 5. If training On-Site any observations the instructor may feel relavent to your safe operation of MHE in your environment. These records are kept for 5 years on our confidential data base as required by ITSSAR.
